Bowman at JVL
I initially ordered five (5) ‘Big Foot’ DTL trailers. Needing all these to fit onto a 14’ Ifor Williams trailer, Andrew immediately agreed to go forward with this idea and created bespoke fittings for the trailer so each trap would fit exactly; my trailer is bespoke welded (and sprayed Bowman green!) This now makes loading and unloading of the traps on site not only quick and effortless but also very secure in transport with no need for ratchet straps or further fixings. A fantastic and thorough professional job, creating the ultimate game trailer.
Since buying the Big Foot’s and having no doubts I was dealing with the right company, I have again increased my traps by purchasing a further two (2) Flurry Launchers and five (5) large Rabbit / Chondels. Again, without issue, Andrew developed a further trailer system for ease of loading, secure transport and unloading. The Flurry Master is a cracking machine, able to easily feed 6 guns ( and more) with two machines. In addition, you have the ability to individually direct clays exactly to where you want them along the shooting line
What is on offer at JVL?
My business concentrates not only on clay and game shooting instruction but also hosting and putting on clay shooting courses as well as setting up large simulated clay days outside of the game season.
A total of twelve (12) traps from Bowman have now been brought in to the trap fleet and are now an integral part of JVL Clay & Game, ensuring amongst other work (instruction & clay shoots) that simulated game days, working alongside and hosted by Abbey Sporting’s Toby Bell and Henry Birkett run faultlessly on each and every occasion at the beautiful and picturesque Rievaulx Estate within North Yorkshire. The power and reliability of these machines, coupled with the ability to easy adjust and therefore present a variety of true game targets is utterly superb.
In my opinion, the simulated game days hosted at Rievaulx Estate by Toby and Henry from Abbey Sporting using this first class Bowman equipment has created a simulated game day like no other. The continuous positive feedback received speaks volumes. If you want to shoot at game targets that accurately represent game quarry through speed, height and movement within the exact surroundings and drives used on an actual game day at Rievaulx then these are the the traps and Abbey Sporting in North Yorkshire are the guys to contact.
What they had to say about Bowmans
Back in February 2019, I felt the need to increase my clay trap equipment for JVL Clay & Game. Having completed some detailed research, my mind was soon made up to head over and speak to Nick and Andrew at Bowman Traps in East Markham, Newark.
My requirements were simple. I needed reliable, powerful and sturdy traps that were easy to work on with ease to adjust on site quickly with the ability to transport across various open terrain conditions without the thought of them being damaged or ‘rattling’ apart!
Looking around the workshop I was soon reassured that I had made the right choice. Both Nick and Andrew are fanatical in what they do. Their experience, skills and knowledge of trap development is second to none. Everything that I needed was answered with the ability to even adjust trailers etc to suit my exact requirements and not to settle for just ’stock’ items where I didn’t need to. You do feel that the customer is fully catered for.

On occasions, since buying these traps, I have since spoken to Nick and Andrew to discuss various topics. From maintenance (of which I got a tool box of spare parts and springs on picking up the machines) to adjustments, queries etc. Each time, they have both taken time to address my issues with no bother at all. The after sales is everything you would expect and much, much more.
In short, Bowman is a great company, passionate in there drive to develop the best. Their machines are British made, tough, powerful and simple to work on. In addition, if you have any problems (or maybe you need something designing or developing to your needs) then they are just a phone call away and are more than willing to have you visit them if you would prefer. Not often you can speak to the people personally who designed and hand built the machine you bought. I for one will remain with Bowman for the foreseeable.
